ThinLine Technology
ThinLine

What is ThinLine Technology

Most equine products work on a compression basis, meaning they compress then spring back or, like gel, move away from pressure. What makes ThinLine unique is its technology. ThinLine is an open-cell foam which moves shock, weight, and heat laterally. Beginning as a liquid, microscopic cells are poured into a mold then polarized so each cell lies end to end creating a tunnel. Another layer is poured on top and polarized in a new direction. In each ThinLine pad, this process is repeated hundreds of times creating a honey comb matrix. This process allows ThinLine to absorb shock distribute weight and ventilate. ThinLine products also carry tensile strength so that pressure is evenly distributed; filling in hollow points and relieving pressure points. Unlike compression based foams ThinLine never bottoms out.

ThinLine’s unique texture and suppleness allows the product to mold. When warmed to body temperature ThinLine products will mold to the horses back, leg or girth area creating a custom fit. When returned to room temperature, ThinLine returns to its original shape. The life span of this process is typically 7-10 years. All ThinLine products are infused with active USDA approved anti-fungal and anti-microbial agents rated USDA approved to last 7 years.

In addition to it’s unique method of distributing shock, ThinLine differs from traditional products. Vs.neoprene: ThinLine will not generate heat and has never caused a skin reaction in horses. Vs. gel: ThinLine is lightweight, breathable, and will not move away from pressure points. Vs. Leather: ThinLine is easier to clean and care for and its anti-fungal agents keep horses’ skin healthy while providing the best impact protection.

ThinLine products protect, are non-slip, will not gather dirt, generate heat or transfer skin diseases.

Superior Shock Absorption

ThinLine technology makes it the most shock absorptive material on the market. How to test it against your products: Drop a golf ball on your pad. Drop a golf ball on a ThinLine pad. The golf ball will dead weight on the ThinLine pad. Or, just watch our video on the home page.

Breathability

100% ThinLine products ventilate keeping tendons and girth areas cool reducing the possibility of injury.

No Slip

In addition to everything else it does, ThinLine saddle pads are the best no slip products available. Add a ThinLine girth and your tack will remain perfectly stable. Boots do not slip on horses legs, even when traveling through water.

Augments Saddle Fit

The only pad recommended and vended by over 90% of UK certified Master Saddlers residing in the United States. ThinLine will not alter custom saddle fit but will aid in making the not so perfect fit better. ThinLine carries an entire line of shimming products designed by saddle fitters to create better saddle fit or to use for quick tack changes.

Anti-Microbial

ThinLine is infused with active anti-fungal, antimicrobial agents allowing use on multiple horses. ThinLine products will aid in healthy skin reducing rain rot (scratches).

Durability

ThinLine vs. Ultra ThinLine

The only real difference between ThinLine and Ultra ThinLine is thickness. Because of the technology behind ThinLine however, the change in thickness makes these two pads ride and perform differently. ThinLine is ¼” thick and is only available in black. This pad offers the absolute most impact protection for the horse, therefore, the horse feels most of the effect. What the rider will notice as they continue riding in this pad, is that the horse is happier and more willing to work and is more comfortable performing. ThinLine is recommended for young horses, horses in high impact situations (show jumping, cross country, gaming activities, etc) horses spending long hours under saddle (trail, endurance, etc), horses with back soreness or stiffness, lesson horses, and beginner riders. ThinLine is a good pad to use when first starting a horse or bringing one back into work from a layoff. It also has enough tensile strength to help distribute weight evenly over areas where the saddle may not fit perfectly while the horse is rebuilding muscle. Riders experiencing back pain from impact situations will also benefit from a ThinLine Pad.

Ultra ThinLine is 3/16” thick and is more of a performance enhancing product for the rider. It still offers shock absorption and comfort for the horse, but with this pad, the rider feels more of the effect. This pad reduces lower back and thigh movement, allowing the rider to sit gaits with less effort and a more stable position in the saddle which results in a quieter ride with increased effectiveness of their seat, and communication with the horse through a closer contact feel. This pad is perfect for professionals on their upper level horses, dressage riders, hunter and equitation riders, reining and pleasure riders, and riders with lower back pain. Riders with horses that have springy or bumpy, hard to sit gaits, will also benefit from riding in an Ultra ThinLine pad.
